Voice and Tone

Voice and tone are often used interchangeably, but they are different things. Use the guides below to learn more about the Learning Team's voice and tone.

Voice Elements

Our voice is who we are as a team and expresses our personality. It's the constant across all communications and everything we create.
  • Respectful

    • We respect others' time and values.
    • We acknowledge and utilize others' knowledge and strengths.
  • Empowering

    • We motivate others to constantly grow and inspire others.
    • We are confident in our skills and abilities to help others learn and develop.
  • Effective

    • We make learning content relevant and applicable allowing learners to use the skills immediately.
    • We are intrigued by challenges and always willing to learn.
  • Engaging

    • We provide an engaging, positive and safe learning-centered environment.
    • We incorporate all types of learning styles into our designs.

Tone Elements

Our tone is adaptable and flexible. Think of voice as the umbrella over tone. While voice is always consistent, tone changes depending with the learning format.

Creative Process

Our creative process is based off of the ADDIE model. It is dynamic, flexible and ensures that we are building effective training.

Needs

First, the instructional problem is clarified. We should clearly understand what and who the training is for.

Requirements

This includes clarifying the desired outcome, deadlines, formats and methodologies.

Tasks

Finally, we should evaluate the tasks involved to ensure complete understanding.

Objectives

During this phase, the team will identify objectives for the final material.

Delivery Format

Based on requirements and objectives, we will decide on the most optimal delivery format to begin working.

Prototype

Finally, we will design an initial prototype to allow stakeholders to give input.

Design

Based on the prototype and stakeholder feedback, we will fully build out the design elements for the material.

Develop Materials

Once design is complete, we will add all of the necessary learning content and begin final review

Review

During review, we will proof and edit the material, reviewing any issues with the design or language and making sure the objectives are met.

Delivery

Once review is passed, the material will be pilot tested with learners to get feedback on the material

Training

Once the pilot test is completed, we will begin making the material available to all requisite employees.

Execution

Finally, we will ensure that employees are made aware of the new material and are given clear instructions on how to access it.

Collect

During this time, we collect data and feedback from learners over a period of time.

Interpret

Once sufficient data is collected, we will interpret it to identify issues and sticking points and ensure the goals and requirements were met

Share

Finally, we will identify and share potential improvements and relevant metrics from the data interpretation to stakeholders.

Learning Formats

Our learning format varies depending on the training needs. You can read more about the different formats our team offers.
Job Aids

Used to help learners quickly access simple, straight-forward information they need to perform on-the-job tasks.

ILT

Used for highly collaborative topics and allows the learner to have discussions in a safe and positive environment.
Video

Used to communicate information at the point and location where that information is needed.
